On behalf of the City Bar Association and the New York State
Judicial Institute, I would like to invite you to a program on
February 12, 2008
entitled Re-Entry - The Future
of Public Safety.
A panel of distinguished
scholars and practitioners will discuss the necessity and utility of
re-entry programs for both prisoners and society as a whole. The
group will address the state of re-entry today and how much progress
has been made in helping newly released inmates forge viable lives
outside of prison. Finally, the panel will comment on the recently
released findings of a Harvard University study by Professor
Bruce Western that examines a ground-breaking re-entry program
conducted by the Kings County District Attorney’s office during the
last seven years.
