There are no
financial barriers to participating.
While traditionally “lights on” and front porch gathering
remain the cornerstone of National Night Out, some communities plan
block parties, cookouts, contests and youth programs.
Since 1984 the objective of this event has been to heighten
awareness and strengthen participation in local anti-crime efforts.
In that first year 400 communities in 23 states participated.
Last year’s participation was reported to have grown to 37
million people from all 50 states, Over the years the National Night Out has proven to be a positive, inexpensive and enjoyable gathering that effectively promotes our common objective of creating safer communities in our nation. This is an event to celebrate safety and crime prevention successes and to expand and strengthen these successes for the next year. I hope to see you August 2nd.
