Last week I announced a new public safety
initiative called “Safe Stop” in Safe Stop merchant participants will be asked to display a decal in their store windows designating the location as a Safe Stop; receive training about the program; make public safety information from the District Attorney’s Office and the NYPD available in their stores, and refer non-emergency situations to the local KCDA Neighborhood Office. Emergencies that require immediate medical, police or fire response will be handled through the 911 emergency response system. Another component of Safe Stop will be Assistant District Attorneys spreading the word about this public safety initiative via our Legal Lives Program in which my attorneys appear in schools throughout Brooklyn each year to present a law-related curriculum to young people. If interested in becoming a Safe Stop location please call (718) 250-2247.
