________________________________________Ask the DA

For the past five years my office has given tribute to Women’s History Month by recognizing Brooklyn women who have demonstrated impressive service and character.  These women are the “Extraordinary Women of Brooklyn.”  In March 2012, my office will honor a new group of women and I urge my readers to participate in the process by nominating these special women in Brooklyn.

The honorees have remarkable records of service.  These women live in Brooklyn and are 18 and older.  Each is nominated by their colleagues, friends or family.  The women honored are church and community leaders, social workers, teachers, doctors, mothers and grandmothers.  They not only care for their families and friends, but also dedicate themselves to taking care of countless others in their neighborhoods and larger communities.

Now, we are looking for thirty-one more women to celebrate their accomplishments.  A special committee composed of staff from my office and prior honorees will select next year’s “Extraordinary Women of Brooklyn.”  I will recognize these Extraordinary Women in March 2011 with their families and friends.

I encourage my readers to submit the names of any women they wish to nominate for this special recognition.  The deadline for nominations is January 17th.  You can nominate women by sending their name, contact information and biography in an e-mail, fax or letter to:
