Where do you go if you have a crime-related problem? Please call (718)250-2340

Well, if the problem is connected to Brooklyn, you can call upon the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, DA’s Action Center (“DAAC”). “We are here to help,” says Director John Castelli. “We are problem solvers. If we don’t have the answers, we know where to find them.”

The DAAC has been helping the borough’s residents for more than twenty years with a diverse array of problems. These include such criminal justice concerns as fraud, harassments, bad checks, drug infestation, child abuse, landlord/tenant disputes, domestic violence and sexual abuse. The DAAC meets with more than 100 visitors per month in addition to fielding more than 1000 phone calls and letters.

The first step is to call the DAAC at (718) 250-2340 to schedule an appointment or speak to one of our staff members. A trained professional will carefully evaluate your complaint and decide how to best resolve it. Your complaint could result in an investigation and prosecution by our office, a referral to the police or another government agency, or, in some cases, an immediate resolution of the problem.

The DAAC is located at the District Attorney’s Office at 350 Jay Street in downtown Brooklyn. Our staff is available to counsel walk-in visitors weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and to take phone calls between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The center is closed between 1 and 2 p.m.

“In many instances, we are the first contact with the system; so we are determined to make a good impression.” Mr. Castelli says, “We are proud to serve the people of Brooklyn."
