In 1990, when Charles J. Hynes took office as District Attorney of Kings County, he vowed to place a great emphasis on domestic violence. 

 

The Domestic Violence bureau handles the prosecution of all felony and misdemeanor domestic violence cases as well as domestic violence homicides. 
 
Our bureau’s senior staff includes award-winning prosecutors. They are often featured speakers at state, national and international conferences about domestic violence.  They have conducted numerous training programs for police and prosecutors.  They also participate in many city and state-wide committees related to the handling of domestic violence cases.
