In 1992, two years after his
first election, District Attorney Charles J. Hynes formed
the Senior Affairs Bureau in recognition of the 400,000
seniors, then living in Brooklyn, who were vulnerable and in
need of help. Mr. Hynes’ genuine concern for their welfare
and safety led him to appoint retired and semi-retired
attorneys as good will ambassadors to seniors throughout the
borough. The attorneys assigned to the Senior Affairs
Bureau work on a pro bono basis and travel to
locations where seniors congregate—for example, senior
centers, places of worship, AARP gatherings, and the
Salvation Army—to address the seniors on issues of relevance
and concern to them. |
